​Project Overview​

Pinellas County is making improvements to Forest Lakes Boulevard between SR 580 and SR 584/Tampa Road to increase roadway capacity and improve traffic flow along the growing corridor. The project will widen the roadway to four lanes with a center turn lane and incorporate sidewalks, drainage improvements, signalization, and railroad-crossing improvements, creating a more connected and functional roadway for the surrounding area.

Key Services

D2i is providing integrated traffic engineering and roadway design services to improve operations and safety along the SR 580 and SR 584 corridor. The work brings together signing and pavement markings, signalization, roadway lighting, and communications infrastructure to create a coordinated transportation system.

At the two major intersections, D2i is redesigning the signal systems, including new mast arms, coordinated signal and railroad preemption timing, pedestrian crossings, and connections to the existing fiber network. The project also includes updated signing and pavement markings throughout the corridor and new roadway lighting at the intersections and mid-block crossings, with designs informed by traffic data, crash history, field conditions, and anticipated traffic demand.
