​Project Overview​

This project consisted of major intersection reconstruction and corridor improvements at US 301 at Gibsonton Drive/Boyette Road and SR 60 at SR 39 in Hillsborough County. Improvements included concrete pavement reconstruction, milling and resurfacing, geometric modifications, drainage upgrades, and expanded bicycle and pedestrian facilities along approximately 4,400 feet of US 301 and 5,100 feet of SR 60. The project also incorporated traffic engineering improvements to enhance safety, operations, accessibility, and multimodal connectivity.

Key Services

D Squared Infrastructure provided traffic engineering design services encompassing signing and pavement markings, signalization, roadway lighting, ITS, and post-design support. Signing and pavement marking improvements included new and modified signing, advanced street name signs, pavement markings, hardened centerlines, and treatments supporting revised intersection layouts, bicycle facilities, pedestrian crossings, and directional median openings. Signalization services addressed modifications required for the reconstructed intersections and enhanced pedestrian accommodations, while roadway lighting improvements were developed to support the new intersection configurations and current design criteria. D2i also provided ITS design support and coordination as part of the overall traffic systems improvements.

The traffic design was integrated with concrete pavement reconstruction, milling and resurfacing, new sidewalks and shared-use paths, ADA-compliant curb ramps and pedestrian approaches, refuge islands, shoulders, and other geometric modifications. D2i continued supporting the project through post-design services during construction to facilitate implementation of the completed design.
