Overpass Road Corridor Improvements – Boyette Road to US 301
Location: Hillsborough County, Florida
Client: Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Seven
Project Overview
D Squared Infrastructure is providing comprehensive traffic engineering design services for the Overpass Road corridor from Boyette Road to US 301 in Hillsborough County. The project supports planned roadway and intersection improvements along a growing east–west corridor and focuses on enhancing safety, operations, and multimodal functionality through upgraded traffic control, signing, pavement markings, signalization, and lighting systems.
The work includes detailed analysis and design to support phased project development, ensuring compliance with FDOT standards while coordinating across multiple design disciplines to deliver a cohesive and constructible set of plans.
Key Services
D Squared Infrastructure provided signing and pavement marking analysis and design, including traffic data review, queue analysis, development of master signing and marking design files, sign panel layout and advanced street name sign design, multi-post sign support calculations, and preparation of quantities and engineer’s cost estimates at multiple design phases. Services also included preparation of signing and pavement marking plans, guide sign data sheets, cross sections for sign installations, field reviews, and technical coordination meetings.
Traffic signal engineering services included signal warrant analyses, intersection operational analysis, system timing development, overhead street name sign design, pole elevation analysis, preparation of master signalization design files, quantities, and cost estimates. The work also included corridor-wide safety reviews utilizing five years of crash data, identification of safety trends and countermeasures, predictive safety analysis, midblock pedestrian crossing warrant studies, and intersection control evaluation (ICE) review.
Roadway lighting services included preparation of lighting design analysis reports (LDARs), development of master lighting design files, field reviews of existing lighting infrastructure, preparation of lighting quantities and cost estimates, and development of complete roadway lighting plans in accordance with FDOT criteria.
Across all disciplines, D Squared Infrastructure provided quality assurance and quality control, interdisciplinary coordination, technical meetings support, and field reviews to ensure accurate, compliant, and coordinated construction documents.
