Project Overview
D Squared Infrastructure provided design project management and roadway safety design services for safety improvements at three locations within FDOT District One. The project focused on improving access management, intersection operations, pedestrian safety, and visibility through targeted roadway and traffic control enhancements at state roadway and trail crossing locations. Improvements included geometric roadway modifications, upgraded traffic signal and pedestrian systems, lighting evaluations, and resurfacing within functional intersection areas, all designed in accordance with FDOT standards and guidelines.
Key Services
Services included design project management and overall coordination; access management and median design; intersection safety and geometric roadway design; removal and reconstruction of channelizing islands; modification of curb returns, turn lanes, crosswalks, and curb ramp locations; traffic signal and detection modifications, including replacement of span wire systems with mast arm signal supports; evaluation and design of roadway and pedestrian lighting to meet horizontal and vertical illumination criteria; milling and resurfacing within functional areas; and pedestrian safety enhancements including replacement of rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) with pedestrian hybrid beacons (PHBs). The project also included ITS coordination with Traffic Management Center (TMC) and ITS Operations staff, Tampa Bay SunGuide Center coordination, CCTV camera planning to monitor PHB operations, and contract management coordination to support FDOT implementation and operations.
