SR 417 Seminole Expressway ITS & Signalization Improvements

Project Overview​

D Squared Infrastructure provided intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and traffic signalization design, quality control, and Engineer of Record (EOR) services in support of resurfacing and operational improvements along a five-mile segment of the SR 417 Seminole Expressway connecting to I-4. The project focused on enhancing roadway safety, improving traffic monitoring capabilities, and increasing protection for maintenance personnel through targeted ITS upgrades.


The work included development of safety-driven ITS improvements, deployment of advanced detection and monitoring systems, and coordination of power and communications infrastructure to support long-term expressway operations.
 

Key Services

Services included senior transportation engineering support and quality control review for ITS and signalization; Engineer of Record services for ITS and traffic functions; preparation of a Maintenance Safety Assessment resulting in safety enhancements at nine ITS cabinet locations; design and implementation of six Wrong Way Vehicle Detection Systems including new power services and fiber optic connections; installation of two new closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras for traffic monitoring; and design of new traffic detection loops at six intersections to support data collection and operational analysis. D Squared Infrastructure coordinated ITS system integration to ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure and compliance with Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise standards.
